Research Fellow in Housing and Homelessness

Christopher J. Calton is the Research Fellow in Housing and Homelessness at the Independent Institute. He received his Ph.D. in History at the University of Florida, where his research focused on the history of the corporation. Dr. Calton has written extensively on a wide array of historical topics, including the criminal justice system, liberal and economic thought, higher education, economic policy, and entrepreneurship. Prior to joining the Independent Institute, he did freelance work for the Ludwig von Mises Institute, where he contributed dozens of editorials and hosted the Historical Controversies podcast. His scholarly writings can be found in journals such as The Virginia Magazine of History and Biography and Libertarian Papers.
