Mark Thornton is Senior Fellow at the Ludwig von Mises Institute. He received his Ph.D. in economics from Auburn University, and he is Book Review Editor of the Quarterly Journal of Austrian Economics and a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Libertarian Studies. Dr. Thornton has been Associate Professor of Economics at Columbus State University, Assistant Superintendent of Banking for the State of Alabama, Assistant Professor of Economic at Auburn University, and Editor of the Austrian Economics Newsletter. The author of dozens of articles in scholarly journals, he a contributor to numerous volumes and his books include The Economics of Prohibition, Tariffs, Blockades, and Inflation: The Economics of the Civil War, The Bastiat Collection, and The Quotable Mises.
